Someone else wrote this:

All you really need is the horses registered name. Then you can do a pedigree query.

I ask my horse egroup about your problem Randy and I received the following info:

Hi,

I'm in Australia so I don't know if it's any different over there,
probably not. If he can find the details of the breed society, just
call or e-mail them. They are usually pretty helpful. Wish him luck!

sam.

So try giving the breed registry a phone call. By the way, why didn't you ask about the horse's background before you bought him?

Can anyone provide information on how to get a horse's pedigree online without becoming a member of an association. I bought a horse and have his registration number, but am having trouble receiving his papers. I just want to get his dam and sire information to see if he was bred for anything specific. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the more the merrier. Horse listing sites should always be trying to make it as easy as possible for their customers to list their horses. Thank you for commenting and helping people list their horses and sell them.

I run a classified site that teams up with allbreedpedigree.com to provide fairly quick and painless pedigrees on ads. I think they'd be willing to partner with additional classified sites to make posting professional looking pedigrees a breeze.

That's a great idea. You're right filling in pedigrees is pure tedium and it's easy to make mistakes. Wish AHA would get as savy as the AQHA and do this.
