A Fire Runs Through It.

horse with fames

Amazing photos of horses that survived the California wild fires

A Fire Runs Through It.

…horses standing here right in the middle of all the smoke and fires smoldering and the aftermath of the main fire that ran through here. I almost couldn’t believe that about 25 horses were standing here and their fences had all melted or burned away.

Oldest Thoroughbred race horse in America

Hermosilla, a 15 year old race horse to run his 73rd career start!

This thoroughbred race horse is believed to be the oldest one racing in North America and he is a crowd pleaser. He is the son of Afleet and has won 14 races so far; 7 after the age of 13.

I not much of a race horse fan. I do love watching horses run, any horse run, but don’t like the fact that most race horses have a short, sad life, and many end up going slaughter. So it nice to read about one that has beat the odds and is still running and winning at age 15. I do hope they give him a wonderful retirement as they are quoted as planning to.

Horse hooves sounds from electric car

New electric car with “horse hoof” sound effects

The car is as cute as a toy pony and makes the sound of horse hooves on pavement to alert people. I love my electric golf cart and I do get the horse hoof sounds from my real ponies when they run besides it going down the gravel road to my mother’s pasture, but I would love to see this car put info action on America city streets. The U.S. really needs a good electric car to help with air and sound pollution and to cut the cost of travel due to the high cost of gasoline.

I love this car’s tiny size but then I am attracted to ponies. For many horse people that ride huge warmbloods and fat-butt quarterhorses this car may take some getting use to. At 41 miles per hour it is as fast as a thoroughbred horse galloping, but it is Read the rest of this entry »

Update on slaughter bound mares and foals

Here is the latest news on the mares and foals that need homes

Marian Mastin of Adopt A Foal just sent me the following report…

We have some volunteers making a run to Lubbock this weekend to pick up these babies…They’ll be traveling back this way at night/early morning hours due to the heat during the daytime…it will be a long trip home since they will be stopping every couple of hours for the babies to get their bearings and balance back… and of course, to nurse.

  1. The Bay Mare and paint foal have been spoken for, but it isn’t a done deal yet…we have one person in line waiting to see how that one hashes out…if they do become available, we will not be able to pick them up this weekend, but would most likely get them in the next couple of weeks.
  2. The Bay Mare and colt have been
