Horse Breeder Opposes Nation Animal Identification
I just found a web page on a horse breeder’s website that points out more scary points about the NAIS and if you have anything to do with horses I think you should go read this page on the Pharaoh’s Horses site.
They spell out five great points about why the National Animal Identification System is not a good deal. They also have a list of six links where you can go to find out more info.

Barn fires are much more common than most horse people know. Please take the time to learn to help prevent them.
“Nothing is worse than a barn fire,” says Don Faison, head of equine insurance for the Markel Insurance Company, one of the country’s largest insurers. Yet by one estimate, more than 4,500 barn fires, most of them preventable, break out each year in the United States. Horses and computers require maintenance.
Clinton Anderson says that teaching your horse to backup well is vital to having a well trained horse and leads to him improving in many ways. “You cannot back a horse up too much” Clinton says.
Well I beginning to get the same message about computers. They too cannot be backed up too much. When was the last time you backed up your important files and photos? How sick would you feel if they just disappeared? How important are your files to your horse business?
Last Monday morning I started up my computer with the idea that I was going to get through my long to do list. But my computer promptly colicled and kicked up the blue screen of death. Well this being the third time in about eight weeks a sick feeling hit me.

I found this posting about The National Animal Identification System (NAIS) on Patricia Reszetylo’s blog, EquineTeleseminar I am posting a link to it here because the NAIS may involve horses too and I believe that everyone that pays taxes should be concerned with this issue.
It is written by someone who had a visit from an Investigator from the USDA to their cattle ranch because a cow they sold a year ago didn’t have its ID number on its health paper.
